218 – It is always the greatest of compliments when I’m told my film Afro-Punk has changed someones life. The compliment reaches unbelievable when someone gets a tattoo related to it. Today I got a triple compliment when Aroyn came to me to actually do the tattoo.
My foot pedal broke last week so I took it apart, found the problem and soldered it back to working condition. I really enjoyed the process so I decided to construct a new rca cable for my machines. That worked perfectly and was wayyyy better than the store bought one I was ordering.
Then I got some EIKON green monster Machines in the mail and did a little customization the them too. Check it out in homage to my old film AFROPUNK. If your really an OG AP you remember this sticker.
As usual mainstream reporting leaves much to be desired but hey who’d a thunk afropunk would make it on NBC news ?

The first time it happened I had it taken down. Not because I was opposed but because whoever posted it had the wrong information in the description. In one month Afro-Punk had been viewed almost 8000 times. That was an awesome feeling.
Were talking bootlegs here. Its been years since I signed my distro deal. Im not making any more money off people buying it from amazon. So enjoy. Watch it share it with friends. I mean you dont need my permission. Afro-punk is being bootlegged all around the world.

Afro-Punk, a 66-minute documentary, explores race identity within the punk scene. More than your everyday, Behind the Music or typical “black history month” documentary this film tackles the hard questions, such as issues of loneliness, exile, inter-racial dating and black power. We follow the lives of four people who have dedicated themselves to the punk rock lifestyle. They find themselves in conflicting situations, living the dual life of a person of color in a mostly white community.
The style of the documentary inter-cuts interviews from scores of black punk rockers from all over the nation with scenes from our four protagonists’ lives. They come from different regions, generations, genders, and sexual preferences but their stories are amazingly similar.
Afro-Punk features performances by Bad Brains, Tamar Kali, Cipher, and Ten Grand. It also contains exclusive interviews by members of Fishbone, 247- spyz, Dead Kennedys, Candiria, Orange 9mm and TV on the Radio to name a few.
