Jill got this cat tattoo from another tattooer a year or so ago. The placement was a little weird. She decided that she was gonna have it removed. 2 or 3 sessions later the thing went from black and grey to brown. But didn’t look to be going anywhere.  So she came to me with the idea of adding a Victorian type woman with the cat.

The perspective and placement guided me towards the direction of making the cat part of a frame for the woman as opposed to her standing next to the cat. There is always more beauty to the face the closer we can zoom in.  Bigger face = more beauty.

I’m really happy with the line work.  Used my old Aaron Cain coil machine for the first time in a long time. Think I might make it a more permanent part of the rotation again.

I originally drew this memorial piece to be double the size (more flowers) but once we got it stenciled on my client realized he really only wanted part of the piece. Luckly it worked out with no problem.

Good way to spend 3 hours.

ANIMAL FARM SNEAK PEAK

I’m really inspired by this sleeve concept. My friend Jon and I brainstormed for a few minutes about doing an Animal Farm based sleeve. Once we got the concept down he said the words I always long to hear, ” You have complete freedom, I trust you”. It’s when my clients say that, that I do my best work. Every time.

NEW DIRECTION…

It doesn’t always work out that clients want what I draw for them. I usually hit the mark but sometimes people don’t know what they want til they see what the don’t want. Part of the buisness I suppose.

Inspired by one of my other pieces, my Client, decided against the tattoo in the previous post. (Thankfully I already have a bite on it and looks like another client may pick it up!)

So I drew this one up for her. Hopefully we can get started on it tomorrow.
