Last week I drew a owl for one of my clients. It wasn’t exactly right for her so we had to table it and push back her appointment. It happens to the best of us, but it can be a bummer when you really like the drawing .This is one of those cases.
But lucky for me, my homie Dava is so rad she came into work on her Battlestar tattoo and after she tapped out of that session she mentioned wanting another tattoo. Fuck yeah, I showed her this drawing and boom she loved it. so we put it on her. All’s well that ends well.

OWL ON A WEATHERVANE DRAWING
My client Crissy and her Fiance are getting tattoos representing each others last names. He designed both tattoos but hers just wasn’t right. A cool design but bold lettering on her forearm wasn’t ultimately what she wanted for her lifetime.
After some discussion we decided on a weathervane with an owl on top ( his last name is weatherman) .
I hope she likes it.

Remember when I said I get tattoos in twos? Yup did an owl last week and bam! here’s another. I really love tattooing birds. And guess what I got another coming up soon!
Anyway I drew this with the intention of fully shading like so…
But my client really only wanted line work… Understanding peoples intentions better than they do is part of my job. What she meant was she likes the openess of visable skin, I asked if she would trust me to shade just a little. That way it still looked like a somewhat completed piece but gave her the look she was going for.
Thankfully she did. And we were both happy.
